The Customer & Cashier Loop
1. Customer Dines & Pays
Customers order food at the canteen counter. They pay as they usually do (using cash, card, or UPI) and receive a printed paper bill showing the order items and total amount.
2. Captures Photo to Earn
Using the scanner inside the Rewarder web application, the customer snaps a photo of the bill. The server reads the total and adds 1 Reward Point to their wallet for every ₹1 spent.
3. Cashier Claim & Swipe
To get free meals, the customer clicks "Redeem", shows the live 5-digit verification code to the cashier, and swipes. The points are deducted and the screen confirms the claim.

Automatic Bill Reading

What this proves:
Zero Counter Friction: Customers read their physical canteen receipt using the app's scanner. The AI extracts the purchase total and adds points instantly. Canteen workers don't need to hand out loyalty stamps or enter points manually.
Keeping the Platform Safe
Duplicate Bill Prevention
Every scanned bill leaves a digital fingerprint based on its unique bill number, transaction time, and total cost. If a student attempts to scan the same bill twice, the server blocks it instantly to prevent double-claiming.
Screenshot Blockers
The 5-digit code shown at the counter is generated in real-time and refreshes every 60 seconds. A screenshot of an old code won't match the current clock, preventing fraud.
Safe Google Accounts
The system verifies users through secure Google logins. This makes sure every account is linked to a real customer. We do not store or ask for banking details, keeping accounts secure.
Permanent Point Deduction
Swiping to verify at the counter is instant and irreversible. The points are checked and deducted directly on the cloud server database. The screen changes to green, and cannot be re-swiped.
How to Test the App Manually
If you want to perform a manual end-to-end check of the live software, follow these simple steps:
- Sign In: Navigate to the home page and click Sign In. Authenticate securely with a Google account.
- Make a Test Bill: Print a receipt from your canteen's billing system for any amount (e.g. ₹50).
- Scan the Bill: Go to the Scan Page inside the app, grant camera permissions, and take a photo of the receipt. Verify that your points increase by 50 points.
- Test Double-Scan Block: Try scanning the exact same receipt a second time. Verify that the app displays a rejection message stating that the receipt has already been claimed.
- Redeem Points: Click the Redeem Points button. Select 20 or more points and click confirm.
- Verify at Counter: Swipe the slider handle fully to the right. Verify that the screen immediately changes to green saying "REWARD CLAIMED" and showing a unique canteen signature. Check your wallet balance to confirm points were deducted.

Knowing they get cash back in points encourages customers to spend a little more on each purchase. They are much more likely to add a tea, coffee, or dessert to their main meal when they know it earns them points.
Free Marketing
Free food builds buzz. When students get a free coffee or meal by redeeming points at the counter, they show it off to colleagues and friends. This brings new customers to your canteen completely free.
